Defexity vs Lovable’s security scan
Last updated
Use both. Lovable’s security scan reviews your Supabase rules, schema, dependencies and, with the deep scan, your code from inside the project. Defexity scans the deployed URL from the outside for leaked keys, exposed files, headers, legal pages, accessibility and SEO, works for apps built anywhere, and monitors critical flows after every deploy.
Side by side
| Lovable security scan | Defexity | |
|---|---|---|
| Where it looks | Inside the Lovable project | The deployed site, plus code when GitHub is connected |
| RLS and schema review | Yes | Code checks for tables without RLS; no live policy testing yet |
| Agentic code review | Deep scan, on demand | Rule-based code checks |
| Dependency vulnerabilities | Yes | Yes (OSV.dev, with GitHub) |
| Secrets in deployed JavaScript | Not described | Yes |
| Exposed files, API docs, debug routes | Not described | Yes |
| Headers, HTTPS, cookies | Not described | Yes |
| Privacy, accessibility, SEO | No | Yes |
| Apps built outside Lovable | No | Yes |
| Flow monitoring and deploy checks | No | Yes (paid plans) |
| Price | Included with Lovable | Free scan; paid plans from $15/month |
Where Lovable is stronger
Lovable sees your database configuration directly and can fix some issues automatically inside the editor. An outside scanner cannot read your RLS policies, so for database rules Lovable’s scan is the first thing to run.
Where Defexity adds coverage
What visitors and attackers actually download is the deployed build. Defexity reads that build for secret keys, probes for files and routes that should not be public, and checks the parts of production readiness a code review does not cover: headers, legal pages, consent, accessibility, SEO and performance.
Defexity also keeps checking after launch. It can run signup, login and checkout flows on a schedule and after every deploy, and gives you a fix prompt you can paste back into Lovable.
Questions
- Do I still need Defexity if Lovable’s scan passes?
- A passing Lovable scan means no common database or dependency issues were found. It does not check the deployed site’s headers, files, bundle contents, legal pages or flows, which is what Defexity covers.
- Does Defexity work with Lovable apps?
- Yes. Scan the published URL, and connect the GitHub repository Lovable syncs to for code and dependency checks.
