REL-009

Web server default page instead of the app

HighDefault severity · Reliability · SEO, quality and performance

Last reviewed

What it checks

Default welcome pages of nginx, Apache, IIS and Caddy.

Why it matters

The app is not deployed (or the server block is wrong), so visitors see a server placeholder.

Recommended fix

Point the server’s root or proxy at the built app, then remove the default site.

How to verify

Reload the domain and confirm the app loads.

Example fix prompt

Generic prompt (your report adds the evidence)
Please fix this production issue in my app.

Issue REL-009: Web server default page instead of the app
Site: https://your-app.example

First confirm the issue in the code or live config. If it is not present, say so and change nothing.
Task: The domain serves the web server’s default page. Fix the server configuration so this domain serves the built app (root folder or reverse proxy to the app port), and disable the default site.

Constraints: make the smallest change that fixes this, keep the current design and behaviour, never paste secret values into code or chat, and tell me which files you changed.
Done when: Reload the domain and confirm the app loads.
